The Theft of an Antique Doll is Theme for New Romantic Cozy Mystery

Mysterious Doll web

It’s time to get cozy! The Mysterious Doll is the newest mystery in the Amelia Moore Detective Series. Linda Weaver Clarke blends a nice balance of mystery, romance, and humor. The little sparks of romance between the two detectives, Amelia Moore and Rick Bonito, add to the mystery of this story.

“Amelia is a smart woman–one who definitely follows her hunches,” wrote Katie Watkins, Katies Clean Book Collection. “Rick is there to bring new ideas and ways of thinking into the partnership in order to help solve the cases. Rick and Amelia are attracted to one another and their relationship slowly develops over each passing book. There was a lot more romance between them in this one and it was very sweet to watch them interact with one another.”

Most mysteries are a “who-done-it.” But in this cozy mystery series, Amelia Moore, who is the founder of the Moore Detective Agency, specializes in missing persons. Her cases have taken her to some very interesting places and put her in some dangerous situations, but with the help of her partner, Rick Bonito, she always solves the case.

“These stories always have a surprise ending and the culprit is always someone this reader never suspects! Once again the scenes and what the characters are feeling are well described so the readers feel like they are watching the story take place! I feel “The Mysterious Doll” is my favorite of the four books. Maybe because the ending totally caught me off guard.” Debbie Curto, Dusty Deliberations

In The Mysterious Doll, Pauline Jones is confused why her boyfriend took off without telling a soul where he was going. But that isn’t all. Sam Whitaker is accused of stealing a valuable porcelain doll from the museum. His disappearance makes him look guilty, but Pauline is convinced he is innocent. When Amelia finds Sam, she realizes they need to prove his innocence. Where is the antique doll and who has taken it?

“This has been my favorite book so far. I love how the story weaves effortlessly between their relationship and their case. Amelia’s getting more comfortable with Rick so his romantic side comes out more. There was more kissing and flirting between them in this book than there has been in other books (all clean) and I loved that, too! She’s also willing to be more adventurous with him and they do some creative things as they continue to work on their Bucket Lists. These books each stand on their own but if you want to watch Rick and Amelia’s relationship progress, it’s best to start with the first book and read them all!”Melanie Valderrama, Mel’s Shelves

“The mystery element was great! It moved along at a good pace and just when I thought I had it figured out at the end, a few twists were thrown in and I was at a loss once again.” Katie Watkins, Katies Clean Book Collection

  1. What a delightful sounding book. Please do not enter me as I’m off to buy it right now – and I have your others. I’m a Linda Weaver Clark groupie, I guess. Best wishes for a successful launch.

  2. The theft of an antique doll caught my interest. I know these dolls can be very expensive and cherished by those who own them. People become so attached to them. To have one stolen would almost be like having one’s pet taken.

  4. This sounds like an entertaining and interesting mystery, just like the previous ones. Thank you for the chance to win a copy!

  5. I have read the other Amelia Moore books and really enjoyed them. The characters in these books have come to feel like friends.

  6. I’ve never read a cozy mystery, I don’t think. The book sounds like one I’d love, given the comment about how you never suspect the bad guy. I’m pretty good at figuring out whodunits, so this seems like it’d be a fun challenge 🙂 (smilesXalumniYcmuYedu, X is @ and Y is . so, the format would be ___@___.___.___ (sorry it’s so complicated, spambots are getting more and more intelligent, and this is the best way I’ve figured out to post my email, since it doesn’t seem like an email address))

  7. The mystery sounds fun and I also like seeing a relationship develop in the a story. A series like this one works wonderfully in showing how a ‘real’ relationship works. I’m adding this series to my tbr pile for sure. 🙂 rbarckhaus (at) gmail (dot) com
